I'm Karl Lankester-Carthy. Currently a Senior Software Engineer at Amplience

I’ve always been interested in writing code since I was young, I never thought anyone would pay me to do it.

I used to write small applications in C++ after school, nothing amazing just little things I found useful, such as small alert programs which would alert me when my favorite TV show was on (The Simpsons, Channel 4, 6pm 😉).

Or irritating scripts that would make the CD drive open and close on a loop 😄 (Sorry Mrs Whitehouse, I must have been a nightmare to teach in IT)

I started my career in Edinburgh - Scotland in 2013, writing code in Java 1.5 and Javascript, also some posgreSQL, Javascript hadn’t taken over the world by this point. It was a simpler time!

From there I moved on to a number of different places gaining a load of experience in front end as well as back end, all of this is available on my LinkedIn profile.

This blog is just somewhere I can write down the things I find interesting, also it keeps a foot in front end which is always nice.

Other than all that, I like to read, play guitar, and watch Horror films…thats about it really..
